Description

Test free, low trochospiral or nearly planispiral, spiral side with umbonal boss, opposite side with depressed umbilicus, periphery rounded; chambers few, sutures radiate; aperture an interiomarginal equatorial opening, extending slightly to umbilical side. [The status of Anomalina is somewhat in question, inasmuch as the type-species has not been recognized since its description. We searched for the original type in the D 'ORBIGNY collection in Paris, but it is apparently not preserved. A search in the type locality, Recent, Mauritius Is.(iIe de France) for this species would clarify the generic status, and determine whether or not Anomalinoides is distinct from Anomalina. Both are here tentatively recognized, Anomalina as based on the original figure and description.]
